Storage power with UNITOWER E
The multi-functional cassette storage tower for all applications


With the development of the new generation of cassette storage towers, model UNITOWER E 1.5,KASTO Maschinenbau GmbH & Co KG, Achern, again sets standards regarding economic storage technology for bar stock, remnants, cut-offs, semi-finished products as well as tools, devices and materials to be used. While traditional storage systems use the paternoster principle, the cassette tower UNITOWER E 1.5 has an integrated operating crane. The crane alone is responsible for handling of the storage cassettes with a carrying capacity of 1.500 kg each. The self-carrying cassettes can be divided longitudinally and diagonally to accept bar stock with max. 6.500 mm length, cut-offs and remnants and can store different dimensions, qualities and materials. Therefore, even boxes, cases, cartons or similar containers can be accepted. The cassettes can be picked up by a crane, can be transported via roller conveyor or can be used as standardized inner-company transport containers.

The modular concept of the storage tower series UNITOWER E 1.5 can be built as a compact storage system with one or two shelf blocks. The basic system is a one-sided tower with max. 30 cassettes. With the extension to a double tower, two shelf blocks with a total of 60 cassettes are available. The following dimensions are showing how compact the storage towers UNITOWER E 1.5 really are: Length = 7.890 mm, Width = 1.990 mm, Height up to 8.000 mm.

As already mentioned, cassette handling takes place via an operating crane with a pulling/pushing unit to store and remove the cassettes. In the lowest setting (base position), the operating gantry crane allows direct and fast material access.

The operation of the storage system UNITOWER E 1.5 is done manually or in software-controlled automatic mode. The automatic storing/removing of a cassette is started by entering the cassette number (fixed location storage). With the storage system UNITOWER E 1.5, industry and job shops as well as trade and distribution facilities get a compact material flow center that decisively speeds up the material handling by high functionality, little footprint and fast cycle times reducing the non-productive idle times.
